Our history

STAG was formed in 1988 and has since evolved into one of the UK’s foremost precision turned parts manufacturers.

From humble beginnings…

Stag’s history was the evolvement from servicing and retailing of horticultural and agricultural equipment including lawnmowers, tractors and associated equipment.

With the birth of the DIY superstores dominating the retail scene it was recognised the need for change.

The company started manufacturing lawnmower spares and started working alongside a major supplier of cutting blades to the industry leading to growth in our

Surface grinding department. With our knowledge we even helped a major Japanese company perfect the design of their blades prior to entering the market place which they still are active in.

Continued expansion…

During this period our Current MD Giles Pargeter joined the business. Having previously worked in the automotive sector namely braking cables, the company was steered into becoming a major second tier supplier of turned parts. BS5750 standard was gained along with more single spindle automatics and the move into multi spindle machinery.

Along with braking parts the company also started supplying pneumatic and hydraulic parts on multi spindle machines, volumes on those days were huge with average batch sizes of 25 thousand plus.

FURTHER GROWTH, GOING GLOBAL

During these growth years Stag became a first-tier supplier to one of the leading Earth Moving equipment manufacturer along with supplying a major global off highways pump manufacturer which gave the business continuity.

A move into CNC occurred in 2000 whereby a component that had many operations was trialled on a swiss cnc. The accuracy and reliability of this machine lead to unmanned production through the night.

More machines were purchased, again from the same supplier eventually leading to the replacement of all conventional machinery.

Stag still utilise this type of machinery all be it much younger generations.
